Invitation – A Poem

A round, inviting face and a smile

with more wattage than a NYC power station.

Full, expressive cheeks; a sculptor’s dream,

and Reuben never painted a better figure.

Even her small imperfections, like the vestigial

toenail or the small signs of acne on her forehead.

She has soft, dark eyes,

inviting eyes,

eyes that capture as surely as a black hole.

She’s sweet

and too much

good woman

for a broke-ass, wannabe poet like me.
