Closing – A Poem

Frustration sets in, like a dog trying to find

a safe spot on an electrified floor.

Soon enough, despair sets in,

becomes a drinking buddy,

a hopeless friend to whittle away the hours

like so much unnecessary wood shavings.

And I begin to lose sight

my eyes close tightly shut,

a thick filmy liquid that burns

like hot candle wax reaches my face.

And then someone hands me

a baby wipe

and a towel.
