Staring at a sunset – A Poem

Simpleton, such a simple

man. Are your eyes not seeing the truth,

like someone who has stared too long at the sun?

They aren’t there anymore, like the sunset.

Once the sun has touched the horizon, it’s already

gone. What you see in that moment

is a mirage, an after image that your mind is convinced still exists.
