Left behind – A Poem

I’m lost.

Like a puppy left on the side of the road,

for no reason other than neglect, racing

after the car as it drives away, the only

family I’ve ever known

leaving, without a trace.

Now I wait, hiding under the brush, hungry

and tired,

hoping a good Samaritan will come by and save me.
